10 easy things you can do to help

 1.  Stop standby waste
        - Unplug TVs, DVD players, computers, phone chargers, etc. when not in use
        - Plug all into power strip and switch off when not in use to make it easier

 2.  Change your lights
        - Switch from incandescent bulbs to fluorescent

 3.  Pump up your tires
        - If everyone kept their tires inflated, we'd save around 4 million gallons of gas a day
        - Plus you get longer life out of your tires

 4.  BYOB
        - It takes 12 million barrels of oil and 14 million trees to make all the paper and plastic bags each year
        - Keep cloth bags in your trunk and reuse when you go to the store
        - Put down the bottle
        - Millions of plastic water bottles end up in landfills
        - Fill up a reusable aluminum or stainless steel bottles at the water fountain

 5.  Flush water waste
        - A low-flow toilet can cut the amount of water use in half
        - or place a plastic milk jug with pebbles in the tank. This reduces the amount of water used in the tank

 6.  Fix drips and leaks
        - Slow steady drips can waste up to 20 gallons of water a day
        - Replacing faucets and showerheads with low-flow versions will help save over 20,000 gallons a year

 7.  Buy recycled paper
        - It does cost a bit more but the paper industry is the third largest contributor to global warming
        - Take used paper home from the office and use the clean side for scrap paper

 8.  Wash in cold
        - Wash clothes in cold water rather than warm or hot
        - You can eliminate 500 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions a year
        - Re-wear clothes that don't need washing

 9.  Get the lint out
        - Cleaning out the lint filter of your dryer before each load will reduce your energy use by up to 30%

 10. Adjust the thermostat
        - Turning the thermostat up just two degrees up or down would save a lot of energy and money
