Vote for NASA Wake-Up Tunes

Posted 8/27/2010 8:00:00 AM
There are songs you’ve heard a million times….but not in space.  NASA is currently conducting a poll of music fans to determine what was the best “wake-up” music used for astronauts on past missions and which songs should be used for the upcoming STS-133 shuttle launch in November.   Some of the tracks up for voting include U2’s “Beautiful Day,” Train’s “Drops Of Jupiter,” Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” Lenny Kravitz’s “Fly Away,” Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’” and “Learning To Fly,” 3 Doors Down’s “Kryptonite,” Foo Fighters’ “Learn To Fly,” The Clash’s “Should I Stay Or Should I Go,” Cake’s “The Distance,” 10,000 Maniacs’ “These Are Days,” and REO Speedwagon’s “Time For Me To Fly.”

Fans can vote on their favorite, with the top two being chosen for play during the upcoming mission.  Also, there’s an opportunity for fans to write and submit their own music to be played in space.  Visit http://songcontest.nasa.gov/home.aspx ...
